The Silence Game
The Silence Game is a Montessori activity specially designed to calm the children down. There are many times when a teacher of young learners has to bring children down when energy levels get too high and The Silence Game will do this.
The Directress will usually show a picture of something calming, such as a picture of a dolphin. On the back of the picture is the word ‘silence’. The directress will hold this picture up for the children to see, and the children will know it is time to calm down and use their inside voices, meaning voices at the volume suitable for inside the classroom.
