Zipper Frame

Children will learn to zip and unzip their clothing independently using zipper frames. Zipper Frames are like Button Frames, Velcro Frames, and Press Stud Frames, but this time, the two sides are joined with a zip.

Doing up a zip on a Zipper Frame

Doing up or undoing a zipper is easy; we all know the hardest part is getting the very end of the zip into the stop at the end first. If the end of the zip isn’t in the stop properly, then the slider won’t go up and down the zipper. The Zipper Frame teaches children how to do up and undo a zipper on their own clothes.

How is the Zipper Frame used to teach children?

Children are encouraged to hold the flaps at the top of the frame, pulling down the slider carefully. They use their right hand to pull the slider down the zipper until it is unzipped. The child will then open the two flaps fully, then close them again.

The child will be asked to put the end of the teeth into the stop, then hold the slider at the bottom firmly while pulling the slider up gently. The child will then be able to do this independently with their jackets at home or at school.
