How to invite someone into a class

There might be times when your Montessori class has begun but there is someone at the door. This might be a late child, a new student, a parent, whoever.

In Montessori, we have a set way to invite someone into the classroom. The emphasis is on calmness and politeness. After knocking, we politely invite the person to ‘Please, come in’. The person coming in is usually a late student and they can come in and get on with their work quietly.

By watching and observing how you invite someone into the room and how you expect the child to politely and quietly enter, they are learning about how to invite someone into a class themselves and how they would be expected to enter. Inviting someone into the class and coming into the class politely is an important part of classroom management.
