Teaching children how to answer a telephone

Children will often be at home when the phone rings and will want to answer the phone. The problem is that young children will often just pick up the phone listening, but then do nothing. This is often awkward and annoying for the caller. Montessori practical life teaches children what to do when the phone rings, what to say, and how to answer the telephone properly. The children say ‘hello’ politely and ask who is calling. Children learn how to answer the telephone by using an actual real phone during classes.
